Len Wolfson brings a quarter century of experience in public policy and advocacy, having held senior positions in two administrations, on Capitol Hill, and on behalf of the mortgage industry. He represents the financial services industry before Congress and federal agencies, with an emphasis on housing finance, banking, capital markets, and insurance.
Most recently, Mr. Wolfson served as the Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development — a position to which he was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He was also appointed by the President as the acting Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), where he steered the $1.3 trillion agency through the coronavirus pandemic, implementing critical policy changes to help borrowers avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes. Over the course of his career, Mr. Wolfson has been a part of every effort to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, including his work on the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. He also lobbied on behalf of the Mortgage Bankers Association and its members on a wide range of issues including the Dodd-Frank Act and tax policy.
Mr. Wolfson got his start in politics on the staff of his hometown congressman, Christopher Shays (R-CT). He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and a rabid fan of the UConn Huskies.
