Ms. Arias provides strategic public policy advice to clients primarily in the financial services and housing sectors. Ms. Arias comes to Federal Hall with experience from Capitol Hill, the Department of the Treasury, and a federal financial regulator. She has worked on and helped shape most key pieces of financial services legislation passed since 2001, including Sarbanes-Oxley, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Dodd-Frank, the JOBS Act, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act, and the CARES Act.

Ms. Arias was most recently a policy advisor to Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), specializing in housing, banking, small business, and trade. During her tenure with Senator Van Hollen, she served concurrently as the Democratic staff director of the Banking Committee’s Subcommittee on Securities, Investment and Insurance, which oversees the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the accounting and insurance industries. Ms. Arias also worked on the Senate Banking Committee for Senator Paul Sarbanes (D-MD) and Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI). In addition to her extensive Hill experience, Ms. Arias has worked at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. At the OCC, she gained hands-on experience with the federal rulemaking process and assisted the agency in preparing for congressional hearings and investigations. Her OCC portfolio included financial technology, cybersecurity, and bank supervision.

Ms. Arias holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Chicago. She enjoys hiking with her husband and two children.
