Chris Matthiesen
Founding Principal
Chris Matthiesen represents corporations, trade associations and municipal government entities in an array of policy areas. During his tenure on Capitol Hill and as a government relations consultant, Mr. Matthiesen has developed many strong relationships with key decision makers in Washington and built a reputation on his ability to work across party lines.
While working on Capitol Hill, Mr. Matthiesen served as Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas (D-FL), a member of the pro-business New Democrat Coalition. Rep. Kosmas served on the House Financial Services and Science Committees. During his time with Rep. Kosmas, Mr. Matthiesen worked extensively on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act throughout its framing. Prior to that, Mr. Matthiesen, a native Houstonian, worked as Legislative Director to Congressman Nick Lampson (D-TX), a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition. There he managed the legislative staff and served as Rep. Lampson’s point-person on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He oversaw the appropriations process during this time, securing much-needed funds for important projects in the district. He started his career in the Office of the House Democratic Leader, Nancy Pelosi, where he saw first-hand the parliamentary procedure and compromise needed to usher legislation through the process.
Mr. Matthiesen received his Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College, in Middlebury, Vermont where he was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team.
